thank you texas.. back to the subject :monkey: anyways..... yeah i was thinking about adding a second intake hose. i read and ive posted on page 2 i think where someone said they had a improvement on fuel mileage with this type setup. The stock setup you dont get a forced air flow the end of the intake hose bends downward in front of the radiator, this type your getting a forced air effect. I still have the stock filter so im hopeing a K&N will help even more. Maybe its me but the car seems a little more peppier on low end....

basically all i was trying to do with this post for those of you that were wanting to do this mod i wanted to provide some info where they can purchase the stuff needed cheap.

As far as getting enough air over opening, that doesnt really matter becasue the turbo will suck up as much air as you need. What does matter is the temperature of the air. I think you have a good idea because heat rises so lower intake point might be improved, but I agree that you should paint it black or get a trick peice of plastic moulding if you want to show it off and cut a hole in the stock inserts.

I know there has been alot of debate about this kind of cold air intake because of water ingestion. I live in Indiana and we dont get much major water situations here. Basically if im dumb enough to run thru that deep of water i deserve what i get LOL. anyways.. for those of you looking for a good source ... i looked everywhere for that black type flexible intake hose couldnt find any and when i did they wanted like 30 bucks. I went to home depot and looked around and found this type of flex hose for your home a/c vents its 3" diameter and an 8ft. section when strecthed out. I basically did as the other guy did but i think its more sturdy and looks a heck of alot better in the engine compartement and i guess you can paint it if you wanted to. The only PITA is getting it hooked to your air filter box. they also have it in 4" daim. but i was worried that would be to big..... total price for everything was $ 9.50.

Wow relax man. No idea if you know the guy and are just ribbing him, but jeez. As to the topic or the original post, I had done this (only had it behind the plastic grill where your fogs are) before I added a bunch of stuff on that side of the engine bay. I'm trying to figure a way to do something with the same purpose, maybe through the fender. I don't really like the whistling from the stock piece when I get on it. I bet though if you had done this with 2.5 to 3in pipe bent and or welded, the tone of the harsher responses would've been 180deg out. But hey then you would've done what some of these "performance" companies do. Go figure a flex tube makes it ghetto, but a pipe with a "performance" brand on it is generally accepted. Oh and increasing the opening with the whole turbo thing (not that it's needed a NA engine sucks in the air that it needs too), I imagine probably would allow for a bit more air to be sucked through the filter maybe even with more efficiency. Keep in mind I'm no engineer, hell I haven't even set foot on a college campus. So basically thanks for the info B) and if you figure something else out with this feel free to post it, I'll look at it.

It may help slightly in the winter but during the summer days its a different story. Yes heat rises but have you ever gone out barefooted on asphalt. The road can be 120 degrees when its 90 out. The stock location is good enough for general purposes.

wat it instead of having it come out in front of the radiator u had it behind the grill on the driver side opeing of the bumper... i guess in ur case the fog light could be an issue but i think as far as concealing goes ud be in a much better situation
