slarti
I've done a search and I still am unsure what I NEED to replace when doing the timing belt on a 95 850 turbo with 170K, the last timing belt was replaced at 100K. So here are my questions.1. Do I need a water pump?2. Do I need a new tensioner?3. Do I need a idler pulley?4. Should I replace the serpentine belt?5. Is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? Thanks everyone for your input. :)
98V70BASEBOY
slarti, I would suggest 2, 3, and 4 from your list may be a good starting point. Anything other than those items is probably just overkill, but if you would sleep better at night, do the pump too. I just don't think it is necessary unless there is a definite problem with it. DEWFPO
I agree, at 170K, I would replace both pulleys (tensioner, idler) as well as the belt and the tensioner itself. Water pump should be o.k. unless it leaks, makes unusual noises, or is wobbley or is un-smooth in it's rotation.DEWFPO
