Need New Brakes In A Few Weeks.

It's been searched so, this is more of an opinion than anything from eveyone here who's willing to respond. Have a '98 S70 T5 (IPD ECU so I have the power, now I need to have stopping power as well). Pads and rotors ALL AROUND need replacing soon. My conclusion is that OEM pads, even if dusty are probably still the way to go. Do you agree? I'm probably going to go pre-drilled Zimmerman's or slotted. Which would you go with and why? Also, where is the best place to get these? I don't want to break the bank with this upgrade. I'm leaning towards slotted due to the possibility of cracking with the Zimmy's.

i got some cross-drilled and slotted rotors with stock pads

for normal driving, you won't notice much difference

but panic stopping is much improved (i've done it more than once, and i'm happy i have them)

Cool! Thanks for your response. Which ones did you get and where?

I got EST slotted rotors and pads - I like them.

Sounds expensive...how much did it set you back?

Get SS lines, then get:

I have porterfield R4S pads on for at least 4 months, and they are the bomb! Much better stopping power, Way less dust, and they are hardly worn. They cost a little more than OEM , but you are not changing them near as often, my 2 cents! (front only!)

I have crossdrilled brembo from E-stop on ebay, No problems,

Any noise from these? Considering putting them on the S70 as it needs pads soon.

Around $450US for 4 rotors 4 pads without tax and shipping. Check out eurosporttuning.com.

Stopping is equally or better the oem with no noise and no dust! Honestly with OEM's I had to wash my rims every 2 days, now I can go 2 weeks.

brake related comments and such...

The next rotors I purchase will be sliver plated, just because they look nicer than rusted hunks...

Replacing brake lines is a Mutha, because years of road salt stick 'em good

There's a set of "R" brakes for sale right now!

i got the raceconcepts ones from mr.ebay

280mm

front and rear

will go to bbk when i finish tuning my engine

Yeah, I need to measure mine...I believe they are 280 but could be the larger...have Perfo wheels so...will need to measure mine. Bought the car with 87K on it...was told then that the brakes were "fairly" new. Now have 126K on the car with these brakes (all OEM I believe) so they've held up very good...40Kish miles. A bit of fade when I'm hitting 80mph and have to brake hard...maybe this is normal, but not comforting if I'm ever in a situation where it HAS TO WORK, if you know what I mean. I also have started getting some brake squeel (not horrible) at the end of a stop if I'm lightly pushing the brake pedal down. I understand this is fairly typical at the end of the pads' life.

I emailed them and they didnt respond to me. I was wondering if they actually zinc plate them for anti rusting. There are a lot of comments about them not being zinc plated. As long as someone else likes them I will go for it. Those seem like the cheapest solution to brakes.

Grant, RS4's are pads made by Porterfield. SS lines dont expand as much when braking as the stock rubber lines do. They also are less likely to tear if something may just hit them.
