Front Passenger Brake Line Removal...

I called the Dealership today and they have them for $50 Bucks not sure if they are pre bent or not but i cant get them until monday. Im gonna call a local Junk yard tomorrow to see if they have any 850's there so i can hopefully scavage a Brake line. I was looking at the old brake line and it seemed pretty easy to replace, so it shouldnt be a hard DIY. Im trying to get this done by the weekend..

Thanks,

Orlando

any good shop should be able to put a new fitting on for you. there isn't really any need to replace the pipe line unless you :monkey: ed it up too far from the fitting. i had this done a few months ago when i couldn't remove mine. it'll save you a lot of work trying to bend the new pipe correctly.

Like I said, they ARE NOT pre-bent!

It is not possible to remove the entire old brake pipe without deforming it. Too many corners and bends to just get it out easily

replacing the lines in deceptively difficult. you shall see, grasshopper, you shall see... ;)

Here's what the flare wrenches look like and yes, any auto parts store will have thme including Sears. You really can't do this job without them.

Sounds like you may be off to the dealer to get a new metal brake line. (Get the flare wrenches while you're on your way to the dealer.

I have a pair of used front calipers that I will install and have been thinking of replacing my brake lines as well with SS, and since the used calipers were cut not at the rubber lines, I got a chance to 'practice' removing it. I bought a single wrench, Great Neck brand from Autozone (7/16 and 3/8 combination) and it didn't work. The flare nut I got was different somehow than the one pictured on ebay, the opening is across a corner and not a flat side. So beware about using this kind of wrench, it may not work for you guys either.

Also, I'm just wondering, I made a calculation an 11mm is actually a little smaller than 7/16, and since I was able to slide a regular 11mm wrench to the flare nut (before I rounded it off), shoul it be more snug? Just a thought.

I probably will just leave my brake lines alone for now. How long do these rubber lines lasts? Do they last 20 years/200 miles assuming no external cause of damage? If I replace it now with SS, would I be set for the life of the car? (the car is a keeper).

I went to a local Junkyard Yesterday in MD and I found a brake line from another 850. Now when I removed the brake line from the car in the Junkyard I still had to leave the Rubber Brake hose on because I still couldn’t get it off using a flare nut wrench. When I took it home I took a heat gun and heated up the line for like 5 min straight in the same spot. I took Vice Grips and a 14 mm wrench for the rubber brake hoses. Turned it and it came right off. If I were to use an 11mm or 7/16 flare nut or opened ended wrench it would have stripped it. So just letting you guys know. That seems to be the only way to get it removed.

When i tried removing the Old brake line, it wasnt that bad but the part where the brake line connects to the Master Cylinder / ABS Console you have to remove the Master Cylinder and brake fuild resouir along with these 2 other small brake lines. You could avoid doing this if you have a long 11mm or 7/16 wrench. Once we get that stuff removed you will have better access to get to that Brake line.

I just finshed replacing mine. So right now im going bleed my brake fuild just need to make sure which way to bleed. Hayes manual says to bleed from Rear to Front. I was reading some post on here and they were says to do from DF, PF, RL, RR, so now im confused on which wat to bleed. Also i have the Motive brake Bleeder. How much Psi do i need to set that too inorder to bleed all the brakes?? Isnt it 14 psi??

Thanks,

Orlando
