tgzeagles
I bought this car used and it has no cartridge in the CD Changer. The stereo works fine and the changer housing looks basically unused. So, I'm wondering how one would go about a) finding a replacement cartridge or if that fails if there is a reasonable way to hook something up to play discs. I want to use it more for when I'm not driving then when I'm driving so the fact that's it's in the WAY BACK of the vehicle is fairly unimportant. Basically, if I have to spend a bunch of money I'll just get an ipod.Any assistance locating a replacement (or how to figure out which cartridges are compatible) is greatly appreciated. psy
model # and make of the cd changer?
tgzeagles
model # and make of the cd changer?First, the vehicle is a 1993 960 (not 760) wagon. And second, the CD changer is a "volvo" and has no model number. It says only Volvo CD Changer Trunk Unit. That's why I have no idea how to figure out what would be compatible. PharmD
OK, here is what is on the back:Volvo 3233022-4969 Japan 922Serial: C20725283DAccording to the manual, the only changer size available in the 1993 960 is a 6 disc changer. Anyone know how to find a replacement cartridge?I emailed a dealership and they ignored me. Go figure?I found this changer on Ebay - it ends in 12 hours/20 minutes from the time of this post, so hopefully you'll see it. I'm assuming you don't want to buy another changer, but this one DOES have the magazine (you could at least see it if nothing else)... ClickThat one says it's from a 940, so it's probably common between them (before the SC-7XX/8XX/90X Radios). Also, go go http://www.vlvworld.com/ and browse through their stuff for 740's and 940's (it'll be under like audio upgrades or something). They don't list a cartridge for that SPECIFIC CD changer, but under the 940 section, they have a magazine that fits 4 changer model that are all very close to that one (maybe same one and just not documented?). I'd check 'em out.Best of luck,Stephen
