Sorry to hear and see what happened to you and the car, hopefully this will make you feel better.

19 Nov06 my last day of probation for the new job. Driving the company truck down a small street with cars parked on both sides and people walking between them. Car turns down the street with just enough room to squeak by, well they can't quite make it so I go to ease up while checking my mirrors.

I hear the sound of crunching metal and jam on the brakes which rocks the truck. Thinking that they had hit me, I looked in the mirror only to see them going on by :( . When I looked in the direction of the other mirror I saw what had happened. I was in shock I have a Commerical DL and no tickets or accidents in 13+ years.

Then the worst came to the front, I had run into a 2006 BMW 760Li :o that belonged to Charles Grant of the New Orleans Saints football team. I could have died right then. Everyone pointing at me and saying thats the guy who WRECKED his car, it had paper tags cause he had only had it for 2 weeks.

The good part it didn't go on my driving record and I didn't get a ticket and I still have my job.

So I spent most of the evening downtown with friends taking my mind off of this whole situation, but now that I am back in front of a computer I've got no other choice but to deal with it.

I'm not getting back into a v70, at least not for a while.

Scott, if you can think of a price that's reasonable for a kid who makes a little over a grand a month, let me know. I highly doubt it though, and even if you sold it to me for $20 I doubt I'd be able to afford insurance. Your S60R is too sweet to sell.

Seeing as how I am pretty monkeyed as far as insurance goes, I'm getting myself back into a 240. More than likly a 262c Bertone so I can maintain pimp status, and save my money up for a while.

Update

I really f'ing hate insurance companies.

So earlier this morning, I headed off to the bodyshop to take a peek at the car. Prior to that, the lady I am working with on a settlement told me that the whole front end was taken apart. Yesterday, my estimator [some guy named Scott] told me they removed the fender, fender liner, and all that good stuff to inspect the bent framerail to get the estimate finished.

So first thing I notice on the car is that all that has been removed are the headlights, intercooler/condensor, bumper, and the broken core support. Fender and liner are still there. I take a closer look at it with the body shop manager, who was telling me the estimator was in and out in about less than 5 minutes yesterday. Now I don't think it's totaled, and neither does the body shop manager.

I'm pissed off at the insurance company, but I'll let them total it, I'll get as much money as I can out of them and I'm gonna keep the car and rebuild it. I've got to now that I know the extent of the damage. I owe the car it for getting me thru so much. It's not going to be that hard.

areas marked with the pink pen note the structural damage.

in other news, I'm probably going to be picking this car up to tool around in while I fix the R.
