Here is everything I have excluding the box. I have two type e's. The diagram that was provided didnt really help me and I am confused as to where things go.

ok -

Now I know that the really long thick blue wire is the one that connects to my battery. I can do that and fish it through the car etc etc but where and how do I hook this up to the amp. In addition there are two small boxes with clear covers pictured. One has a 100 fuse in it (ANL Fuse holder w/ 100 amp fuse) and the other has two smaller glass fuses in it (fused distribution block). Which goes where? I think the 100 goes in between the amp and the battery but how do I connect the power wire to it? Then I am stumped as to where the dist. block goes?

I also know that the thick silver wire is the ground wire, and I am pretty sure I know how to hook that up as well. However, there is just an end of the wire and no attatchments were supplied so I am still unsure how to hook this up to the amp.

Also, what is the remote turn on wire and where does it go into the amp and where does it go into the HU?

There are two thinner 18ga wires (pictured next to the fuse holder and dist block) are one of those used for the remote turn on wire?

I know the purple wire is the RCA cables, they go into the HU and also into the amp i believe. If this is the case, where do I hook up the subs to the amp? My box has two gold terminals (the plug in kind meaning it looks like rca cables could fit into there). I want to bridge the subs so i can power them from one amp, any instruction on how to do that as well?

Thanks in advance, I know I am a noob with this stuff but I dont want to blow up the amp/subs and i want this done the right way. :)

positive battery terminal > inline fuse > distribution block (if you're running multiple amps) > amp(s)

remote turn on lead goes from the wiring harness on the HU to the remote lead on the amp. usually it's blue with a white stripe. the remote turn on lead doesn't have to be a big gauge wire, that 18ga. will work fine. Try and keep the grounds as short as possible.

Ok - the power wiring to the amp makes sense but I have one more question about it -

the fuse holder looks like this:

fuse1.jpg

fuse2.jpg

There is no pass through for the wire, just a two holes on each side each with a dead end...So I am assuming I just cut the wire, put one side in one hole, and the other side of the wire in the other hole...correct?

also, in regards to the distributor, should i install it just to be safe, or is there really no need if im only running one amp?

Bump to answer the rest of the questions!

still unanswered: -connecting all of the wires to the amp itself? What connectors should i use?

yes. the thing in the middle is the fuse.. :P

install it, you never know when you might add another one.

1. the amp has bare wire allen screws, strip the wires, put them into the amp, tighten down on the screws.

2. the sub itself hooks to the amp with SPEAKER wire bro. :P and yes, the RCA wires go from the HU to the AMP, how many Preamp outputs does your HU have? does it have a subwoofer specific preamp out? is it 5volts?

3. is the sub dual voice coil? how many spade connections are on the sub?

Oh ok, i didnt know if it was safe to just strip the wires and attatch them that way to the amp...

there are 4 holes for rca cables in the back of my hu, so i believe it has two preamp outputs...

heres a pic:

Now, on the outputs on the top it says L and R, which obviously mean left and right, but then below it says front and rear...which one do i want my amp plugged into??

i also see that blue wire with the white stripe (remote wire) ... ill just splice into that and then wire that to the amp!

ok, so you don't have a sub out, no biggie, just use the rear one, and set up the amp accordingly.

and yup, that's it the blue wire, just tap into that, and you shuld be good.

when you get it all wired up, turn the volume down on the HU, and look at the amp, there should be a green (might be a different color) light that turns on and off, when you have the car in the ACC position. when you shut the car off, BE SURE that that light turns off, otherwise you tapped into a 12v constant, and you'll drain your battery.

just use the rear one, and set up the amp accordingly.

Just for clarification, you mean the rear output on the preamp outputs, correct?

Also, last and final question *for now* (you are the man by the way for helping me out so much): How do I bridge the subs?

And also, what is a good ground to use for the amp?

yes, rear on the preamp outs.

Here's a lil snippit on bridging.

When you bridge an amplifier, you combine the power output of two channels into one channel. Bridging allows you to drive one speaker with more power than the amp could produce for two speakers. Because of this high power output, bridging is an ideal way to drive a single subwoofer.

If your amp is bridgeable, the owner's manual will have directions that tell you how. Usually, an amp is bridged by connecting the speaker leads to the positive (+) terminal from one channel and the negative (-) terminal from the other channel. However, you should be sure to consult your owner's manual before attempting to bridge your amp.

Also, keep in mind that most amplifiers need to see a 4-ohm load when bridged to mono operation. If you want to bridge your amp, you should use one 4-ohm speaker or, if you prefer multiple woofers, wire two 8-ohm speakers in parallel. (Again, consult your manual before operating your amp in bridged mode.)

thanks,

im doing a writeup for this as well for all the sound newbies like me

There already is a write up on how to install a sub and amp, but OK.

Make sure your ground spot is free of everything, including paint. You want bare metal. Use a grinder if need be.

How close to the pos terminal of the battery is your ANL fuse?

I will double check the ground and sand/grind if necessary.

The ANL fuse is less than 6" away from the battery. The directions said to put it no more than 12" away.

Next question, what am i supposed to use to attatch the pwr and grnd wires to the amp...these are 4GA wires with little tiny connection terminals...
