Creak In Front End When Turning Right.

Hello

I have a creak in the front (drivers side) wheel housing, it only happens at low speeds and when turning right.

Searching showed me a lot of stuff A arm ball joints, tie-rod ends, drive shaft, etc.

So basically if you have experienced this, I would be interested to find out what your resolve was?

Thanks

Matt

If you grab the wheel while the car is jacked up, do you have any play at 12:00 and 6:00 or at 3:00 and 9:00?

Really it could be anything suspension related. I know that doesnt help. The items you listed are some common creaks that people have found. Endlinks tend to creak and clunk when broken or the rubber boot is torn. Since the car is swaying slightly to the left when you turn right I would look into the endlinks. Since you dont have play, look for some torn boots in that area.

I'm also thinking spring seats. Check 'em out.

Try to turn the top nut (top of the strut) with a wrench. If you can rotate the top nut then they're toast, whereas if the rubber lining is still intact then they'll spring back when you try to turn them. You can also take the top nut off (don't turn the cross-shaped nut though!) and eyeball the spring seats for cracked or deteriorating rubber.

+1...I was thinking my 850 was going to be requiring ball joints soon as I was getting the creaking sound. So, I checked around and sure enough, my stops needed greased. That may not necessarily be the case with you, but definitely check that prior to doing anything with the ball joints.

Hi

Thanks everyone!

I greased the stops when I first started hearing the creak but that hasn't resloved it, it has now developed a clunk when turning from full left lock to full right lock (but not the other way) and the steering has started to go vague.

I am guessing the outer tie-rod is knacked and will get it checked out and replace it this week.
