Recently everytime I come to a complete stop the cars rev drops from 1000 rpm to about 500-750rpm. As it does this the engine will shake as if it wants to stall but it never does (my foot is still on the brake pedal). Then it will go back up to 1000 rpm. I know this is not normal behavior and I'm very worried about my car because I don't like my cars to run like crap or suffer. Anyways I went to Advance Auto and did the OBD scan and it threw a code P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1). I was told that this may be an oxygen sensor but they weren't sure. I also get a message that says "disc" on my trip computer. Does anyone know what that is? So here I am wondering and that is why I am here. What is wrong with my car? Its my baby and I really hate to see it this way. Please if anyone has had any experience with this symptom while stopping please share your experience and what you did to fix it. If you take it to Volvo, they will give you a free software update, and if that doesn't fix it then they might install a brand new one in for free. Read up here. If vacuum lines are clogged up really badly, the rpm's will dip considerably. It may be time for you to check and service your pcv hoses. If you take it to Volvo, they will give you a free software update, and if that doesn't fix it then they might install a brand new one in for free. Read up here.Hi BtownVolvo, I have the upgraded software for the ETM. When I made an appointment with Bobby Rahal Volvo for my transmission flush I asked if the software was updated for my vehicle and they said yes. If vacuum lines are clogged up really badly, the rpm's will dip considerably. It may be time for you to check and service your pcv hoses. He believes its the hose that leads to the brake booster and that the vacuum is bad. It could be alot of things but hopefully it is a vacuum and not a sensor or worse the the throttle body.
