Plan_B
What should it cost me to replace the amp in my 850 wagon?
prasamin
you want to replace it with a stock amp or with aftermarket?I think Mike has a working stock amp for pretty cheap.....aka Boomin850
paulr
I think i've seen mention of an alpine 75x4 or 100x4 amp that fits in the location of the stock amp... If this is true you may want to explore this, as the stock amp isn't really that awesome. Unless you can get one ultra-cheap, this would be a good time for an upgrade. Plan_B
I guess I do not need a stock amp. The sound from my stereo cuts on and off, I was told that might be a bad amp......so I want to fix this the cheapest way possible :)
POOKDIZZLE
Sounds like a short rather than a faulty amp or head unit. I would check your hot wire leads to see if they are touching metal or if your ground is loose; this sounds more like your problem.

paulr
Well, I know I haven't figgured out how to fix people's crap over the internet yet , I can't speak for the other people here... Seriously though, all you can really do is mess with crap until you know what's going on. Is the sound cutting out randomly? or only at high volume? In all speakers, or only on some? Sound cutting out randomly can be caused by a million things, and most of them have to do with a loose connection somewhere (whether on power / speakers / signal wire / inside the amp, etc). If it's only cutting out at high volume, then it might not be getting enough power, or have a partial short in one of the speaker channels. Something you should be able to do (depending on what HU you have) is unplug the speaker cable from your amp, and plug it into your HU. It won't be as loud or whatever, but if you don't have any cutting out, you at least know it's something related to your amp (amp itself, power wire, signal wire, etc). Plan_B
The sound cuts out randomly and it is all speakers, it is like there is a loose connection somewhere. I pulled the stereo put and looked around and nothing seemed loose. Other then that I have no idea what else to do :monkey:
