Kristy
Hello Everyone and after seeing all these posts I am hoping that you will be willing to help one more person with their radio code. I bought my car (2000 Volvo S40) maybe a year or so ago and actually I love it. Two things that I have become educated about are Radio Codes and trying to get another set of keys for my vehicle. At the time of purchase they told me...there is only one set of keys for this car. I thought, no problem, I will get a duplicate set with no problem. haha After calling up the local Volvo dealership I was told that it would cost around $350 to $400 for the bob and key. I guess I must admit that I was ignorant in this matter and needless to say I still only have one set of keys. Anyway...I was never told about the code for the radio and so once again I was clueless. My battery died and my brother in law put a new one in for me and poop...no radio. I had no clue what CODE ment and so I punched a few numbers and of course it read OFF. haha....I did read up on this and left my car on for over 2 hours and when I went to check it ....it now has CODE on the radio. I have looked in the book that came with the car and the card that should have it on there is blank. I am hoping that someone might be able to help me with the CODE. I called the dealership when the OFF sign was on and they told me that it would be $55 to let the car sit for 3 hours and then take the radio out to get the numbers off the radio to be able to look it up to find the code. My thoughts are that why pay $55 to get a flipping code for a 7 year old radio/cassette player when I could put that toward a new one. eBay has used or refurbished ones for anywhere from $174 to $250 for one and so it brings me back to asking for help. I have my vin number and hope that someone who works for Volvo could help me to get my CODE and pray that it is the same radio that came with the car. Sorry for being so long winded... Here is my info: 2000 Volvo S40; Radio/Cassette Player/Vin#: YV1VS2557YF530288.Thanks for any and all help! Guest Guest_ahmed_*
If you need a code for your radio, the first step is to call or go see your local dealer. They should not charge you. Complain to a superior if someone tries to charge you. If the radio is original, they only need your VIN to look it up. If the radio has been replaced at some point, they will need the serial number from the radio. If that does not work for you, for whatever reason, post your serial and part numbers in this thread and we will try to help you further. You are able to find the serial number by removing the radio. If you have the code but you can't enter it because the radio displays "off," turn the ignition key to position 2 (II) for 2-3 hours. The radio will reset and display "code" again.Once you have your code, write it down! I don't recomend keeping it in the car, but to each their own.volvo sc 811 sn B50279825
