pfeener
I just changed the timing belt tensioner on my 98 S70 (mechanical tensioner). The car has 161,000 miles on it and I've changed the timing belt twice. Both times at 70K. I had never changed the timing belt tensioner, but lately it's been sounding noisy so I decided to change it out. After replacing the tensioner I noticed the timing belt is tracking about 1/8 inch further back (toward the center of the engine). It seems to run fine and is still tracking fully on all the pulleys. I assume the shift in tracking is because the old tensioner was worn. Has anyone observed this before?
Bay13
Aas long as the cam and crank marks line up you are OK. I notice that when I do T-belts in the shop, the new one is never exactly where the old one was, but the marks are still with-in the notches on the cover.
