MadeInJapan
It would appear that Toyota T-IV fluid must be quite similar to JWS 3309.It IS JWS 3309. I am willing to bet that Mobil makes it for them as well as Volvo.
Piglet
MIJ, I'm not sure if you did the flush yet but I found this on VolvoXC.comhttp://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.p...nsmission+flush
BillAileo
The method described in the link that Piglet posted is what I used to flush the fluid in my '03 XC70 and it worked great. One word of caution, however, I believe on many earlier made Volvos the transmission fluid flows in the opposite direction of the fluid in P2s, so the tubing fluid collection set up must be modified for such cars or you'll end up with transmission fluid flowing places you don't want it.... BillPiglet and Bill, thanks! No, I haven't done the flush yet. The XC site was a great find! But now Bill has me thiniking it should be the lower hose to disconnect. What is it on the '04 V70 we have? I don't want tranny fluid all over the place. And the shop that can do the flush with their machine still doesn't have the fitting so I will most likely be tackling this one on my own. Any ideas? Again I ask: Is it the top hose or the bottom one that I need to disconnect?
Guest Guest
On your '04 it would be the top hose that's disconnected and you connect the temporary vinyl line into the opening in the transmission cooler just like shown on the first picture in the link on the XC site.Bill

It must be on newer V70's that I heard someone trying to do this and tranny fluid going everywhere out of the hose they disconnected.

BillAileo
Actually the reverse flow is on older Volvos. I know it was the case on the '98 V70 because my son had one & I flushed the fluid in it.Bill
