Phil94850
i recently changed the oil in my car and now in the morning after sitting all night the engine will rattle when i first start it for a few seconds and then it stops. It never did this before the oil change, and ive checked the oil level and it shows to be full on the stick ? any ideas ?
sion
A few possibilities here. What oil did you change to & what viscosity is it?Did you change the oil filter too? If you did, the new filter may have a faulty relief valve causing an oil pressure issue. Does the oil light go out immediately, or does it stay on until the rattling subsides? Therein could be the clue.

Guys in here say it's nothing to worry about.Question though. Does yours rev pretty high on start up then settle to normal idle?
Phil94850
yep... mine does the same ... it revs up at first start then settles down. i used 10w30 oil i was just worred about it rattling like that. the car has 200k on it. other than that start up issue... the car runs great !!yep the oil lights goes out immediatly no issues there... as i said the rattle only lasts a couple of seconds as if the oil press. has to build up or something. it only does this after its been sitting all night after the initial start it doesnt do it anymore... prasamin
they all rev a bit and settle back down when you startno they don't.clean out your IAC first, make sure the flap inside moves freely. then, I would get in there and do an oil pan o-ring kit. when the o-rings go bad or wear, pressure won't let oil go up to the top until car warms up a bit, or unless you're running the car for a while. You'll usually notice the rattle when you first start the car, or after idling for a while.

No morning rattles but the GLT did that occasionally but it goes away.

Gilhuly
Before the poster even mentioned the o-ring in the pan that's what I was thinking as well. Cooler weather could coincidentally be playing into this, hardening and shrinking the o-rings. You don't want to let this go on.
