TM850R Posted October 21, 2006 Report Share Posted October 21, 2006 Ok, here goes nothing.Friday 12/1/06:Speedworld. 6:30-10:30 1/4 mile track. Get out of your everyday Volvo routine and LEGALLY race at Speedworld. Here is a link to their site. Gates open at 6 I believe and racing usually doesnt start until 6:30 for the bikes and drag cars. Most likely the street cars wont start until around 7. Cost is $15 to race and $10 to watch. If your times are below 13.9 s for the 1/4 mile, you will need a DOT approved helmet, as well as your passenger (if you race with one).For those of you that dont feel like racing, its still a fun time to go out and see the cars. There are plenty of nice and fast cars there every Friday night, so come out and enjoy the Volvos racing.After the track we can all get something to eat down the road in Orlando. Maybe someone local will give us an idea of what a good place to eat is. If anyone is coming from a place far away, ie Gainesville, arrangements can be made for a place to stay. If worst comes to worst, there are plenty of hotel rooms in the Orlando area and I happen to work at Comfort Inn so I can bring some friends and family discount tickets with me. Please PM me if you cant find a place to stay, I will be checking room availability at a few places over the next few weeks.Saturday 12/2/06:UPDATED: BBQ will take place at Jesus' (h3s00s70t5) house. Click here for directions. 417 is a toll road for those of you not too familiar with the area. Expect to pay tolls if you are coming into Orlando from nearly any direction. If you are coming from the south and dont feel like paying any tolls, I-95 to SR 50 is generally a good choice. Speedworld is right on SR 50 and Jesus doesnt live too far from there.Here is an image courtesy of Jesus himself, this is an overview of his neighborhood and the Winn Dixie nearby:Most likely we will meet up around 11-noon and get a BBQ going. Best thing to do is wait til people start to arrive to buy the food. We will decide what is needed and what to buy when we have some people at Jesus' house.Again, if anyone needs a place to stay, please let me know. I can get rooms for pretty cheap in the Orlando area. There are people that are offering a couch to crash on for the night, so you can make arrangements with them but if you want a hotel room, you will need to give a few days notice so I can reserve them at a discounted rate.Lets get this thing rolling people. We had a thread about a meet in Orlando at someone's house but that thread is now lost to the internaught. Im down for a meet and some track time anywhere. Just give me the word, we can basically copy what we did last time. Only difference being that this time we'll go to the track on Friday night. I will let you know in couple of weeks.i go to school in tallahasse and live in palm harbor, so i'd be down for this, would prefer if it wasnt too far south since Its a 4hr drive to tampa, orlando is like 4.5-5hrs and gainsville is only like 2 hrs for me...
