Bass Shakers

I've seen similar products (different MFR) for for $20 / pair in local surplus stores... They definetly have some application, but will you appreciate it ? boils down to the difference between LFE / bass. If you listen to, you know, movies, the shaking of rocks falling or an explosion will be more "physical", as it shakes the crap out of your seat. But is that a good thing when listening to your favorite rap / techno / hip-hop / whatever song ? You won't have any audible bass or anything else, just a shaking seat...

I agree.

I've considered using them in my car, only because lots of movies are watched. If you're not watching movies, there's not really much use for them in a vehicle.

could i run two of these right from my new headunit?

I just realized what you were saying here, and no, I wouldn't run them from a HU. If you had extra channels (IE you're using an amp for components), it would work, but not well. Not enough power. You'd also want some sort of a low-pass setup. Short answer = don't do it. If you're after LFE get at least a 2x50W amp. If you're after bass, get a single 10" or 12" sub and ~300W amp on the cheap.

Adam, curious, when does one watch movies in their car? Long road-trips? Hanging out ? What ? I just am trying to figgure out if people like go to someone's house, park the car in the driveway for 2 or 3 hours, and watch a moive lol. That's one of the biggest reasons (Well, besides lack of $$) I don't own any video stuff - I just don't see myself ever using it, other than the one or two road trips I do w/ passengers per year.

99% of the movie watching I do in my 854 is while I'm at shows. 8 hours of waiting for a plastic trophy gets a bit boring sometimes.

For a more "everyday" example, though, I did some video in my sister's truck to keep her kids entertained. At first we did some video games too, but instead of reducing the back-seat fight club matches, it only made it worse. I took the games out and now they just sit quietly and watch their Sponge Bob. :D

There are other uses and situations, that goes without saying, but most people that come by the shop for video fall under those two examples. Either kids, shows, or both.

Yeah, if movies are you thing, and you REALLY have to FEEL everything (my sub does the job pretty well for me as far as LFE goes), then maybe they're not a bad idea. But if it's just music, I don't think I would if I were you...
