Noahkk19
seems to be only after a decent to long drive that when im in the midst of comming to a complete stop my oil light flickers on and off really fast. Sometimes it'll flicker just a little bit when i've put the car in neutral, never stays lit for even a second. It usually happens when the A/C is on but today it happened with no A/C. Whaaaat on earth is going on?95 850 T-5R
the underlørd
what's the oil level?
drlava
It's bad news, I can tell you that much. Likely the oil pick-up o-rings need to be replaced, which involves taking off the oil pan underneath. Also could be an oil clog or really worn oil seals. Is there a loud clicking noise when you first start, or a puff of blue smoke out the tailpipe?
Noahkk19
the oil level is perfect...I recently had a valve job done and got new rings so that's not the problem. I did have the blue smoke and what not before this but got it all covered . And I don't get ticking even on cold days, engine runs perfectly
Chopper
I hope it's not a real oil pressure problem, but if it is be careful. The Volvo oil pressure light is on a switch. Below a certain pressure it comes on. The oil pressure sender is located on the front of the block below the intake manifold/head near the middle. Check to see if all the wiring looks good, may be a short rubbing in and out.
Volvo Virgin
Get a hand held oil pressure guage, take out the oil pressure sending unit and thread the oil pressure guage in to get an actual reading. That way you'll know for sure if you have pressure. If you do,change the sending unit while you have it out and see if that helps. Seems theres some obstacles on turbos if you go from the bottom. From the top seems like the manifold has to come off. Any tips to get to it? Chopper
You can reach it from the bottom. No more obstacles on the front of the block in this area than you would have with an NA. It is hard to reach, but on my 850 I did remove the stock oil pressure switch and replace it with an autometer electronic sender (needed an adaptor), and I was able to do it from the bottom. Certainly frustrating. If you want to make it easy go ahead and take out the intake manifold, it's actually not very hard.
