I am chasing this same problem on my 1997 NA 850 wagon. The dealer said it was the evaporative valve (which they replaced) but I am still getting the same code, and I havn't had time to take it back to the dealer yet. Someone told me that there is a smoke test that the dealer can do to find the leak, but I don't know whether they actually did that on my car or not (I did not know about the smoke test until after I took it to them).

Also there is a vacuum elbow underneath the power steering pump that can leak; I haven't tried to find that one yet.

Good luck and let us know if you find the problem.

It's funny to say at least, I just don't know where else to look.

Generic OBDII reads PO442 which states "small emmissions leak detected"

And the Volvo DTC reads EFI-612 which is "Fuel tank system, small Leak" signal Low

any one else know?

In the trunk where the fuel pump is take off the cover and see if you smell anything there. My car has a slight odor there but I have no codes. Some people have gotten leaks out of hoses in that area.
