Dacvolvo
Hi, FolksI hate standard equipment...I decided to take out the huge square shaped cassette/radio from my S70. I replaced it with a nice standard sized Sony head unit. However, I've since discovered that the dashboard lights don't light up. I've checked the fuse box and everything is fine there. The headlights work as normal, as does everything else; with the exception of the darn dashboard illumination... I have a sneaking suspicion that it's something to do with the many wires that were originally plugged into the back of the standard cassette/radio unit. Many of these wires are now not connected to anything as there must have been about 24 all in. But I only needed a positive, a negative and the 8 speaker wires to operate my standard head unit. Can anybody point me in the right direction, please? Adam Franke
Check the little slider thingy that adjusts the brightness. You may have hit it by accident. It's usually to the left of the steering wheel near the headlight switch.
Dacvolvo
Thanks for the speedy reply, Scope...I'd already thought about that, but after looking at the set up behind the radio this morning, I found the problem - a little pink and white wire that controls the brightness on the standard radio LCD screen. All sorted now and everything works (and sounds) fine...Cheers again...Dac
