Guest Guest
I've got a 7" screen taking up all of my double din space where the radio used to be. I took out the ashtray while I figured out a better place to mount the reciever for my wireless controller (for my Xbox HU). Apparently the garage wasn't a safe place to store the ashtray, cause the damn rents threw it away. So for now, I'll settle for a cover over the gaping hole where ash tray used to mount, and when I get money for it, put a dvd player in. Also, the EQ is a good idea.. XBMC is still without this feature. Is this a good enough reason? this is why we get DD recievers w/screens, so everything is in one spot. and of course has A/V ins for PS/XBOX. ;)

If you could find me one for under $200, I'd be all over it. Plus there's no challenge in installing one of those :P

Plus there's no challenge in installing one of those even WITH employee discount that price is rdiculous. so we save our monies and wait to buy the best instead of upgrade upgrade upgrade, wasting a lot of money, and looking ghetto on the way up. AnthonyR
xbmc is still far more versitile than any radio out there. Just needs nav and sat radio support and I would probably switch to it myself (my touchscreen is supported by xbmc now)Also, pikey, I have shees of abs plastic at work (Circuit City) and most of the circuits around here should have them (I am in maple grove)

HPTDoh
so we save our monies and wait to buy the best instead of upgrade upgrade upgrade, wasting a lot of money, and looking ghetto on the way up.Then why did you settle with an R instead of saving up for a Enzo? I don't think I wasted any money cause I really enjoy my current setup; even though it's not exactly what I want right now.
b3atboxjr
here's what i meant:at work i see the same people come in multiple times, each time getting a newer and better system. and everytime we have to charge them installation.all i meant was that, instead of getting something temporary with plans to upgrade in the future and wasting money on multiple installs, just get the system you most desire in the first place, and be happy.where has our patience gone?and i don't have an R, its just a turbo, which was what i wanted. of course i would've gone with an R, but i'm just as satisfied with my lack of 20 extra HP - because you can always make up for that sorry i caused such distress, i suppose i'm just more conservative about my money. AnthonyR
He's also probably installing it himself though, so there wouldn't be the dual install charges
ultra_runner
You guys got me thinking about this. I need more room for gauges on the dash. Once approach is to go with a two gauge pod where the ashtray is and put a single DIN HU under a triple gauge panel where the stock HU goes. However, you have gauges up and you have gauges down. Looks funky.Or... could mount the single DIN HU where the ashtray is. Anyway, I was thinking of mounting a universal enclosure securely into the dash, then mounting the HU into the enclosure. Something like this kit, but modified a bit.Thoughts?Scott C.
Owned
Why are you putting the DIN gauge holder over the radio? Put it in the lower position so you have it sitting very near the ash tray gauges.

PyROZen
you best bet would be to take it to a reputable audio shop and tell them what you want. It is very possible to put a radio there with a little wood, firberglass, and lots of bondo. Not a weekend project by any means I think it would look really cool if it was well done, but i'd say making a piece to hold the radio where the ashytray resides would be at least 6+ hours to get a clean, stock look. Put it in the lower position so you have it sitting very near the ash tray gauges.A little PS play here to convey what I'm thinking... yes - know it is the same set of gauges! I have different angled panels coming in along with Oil pressure / Fuel Pressure and Voltmeter gauges this week (?).Now - once you remove the ashtray and start cutting - there is nothing in there to hold the HU. I'm thinking of using the previously mentioned enclosure and get that mounted securely into the dash. Then it is just a matter of sliding the HU in. Plus the black plastic frame of the holder will hide the ugly metal casing of the HU.Thoughts?Scott C.
