Mr Yuck
This is an upgrade for AFTER I get a new HU, It'll have pre amp out for sure.I've had a desire to hear some better lows, the set of 4" sony's I have sound great, but I'd like to add a little bit of bass response, not neighborhood shaking, just clean lows that these small ones dont deliver.Think 6x9's will be good enough? If that's the case, where would I put them? (it's a 1988)Here's where I have my rear speakers, the fronts are in the doors.I'm not afraid to do a little bit of plastic cutting like in the picture. Where have you seen or had/have 6x9s or 5x7s in a 240 wagon?
blkaplan
where i put them in the 88if i don't filter out below 60hz the door vibrates. Some sound deadening or an internal closure would help alotThose are powered by a 50x2 amp...

Owned
Does that interfere with the window crank at all? And would you do it again or get a sub?Doesn't look like it does. You can't compare a sub and a 6x9 in terms of bass.
blkaplan
Does that interfere with the window crank at all? And would you do it again or get a sub?I started with that and eventually got subs. The 6x9's do add a good deal of bass to the 240. But in the end I got 2 12's and it was much better for ultimate sound quality. They are heavy though, it slowed down the car noticeably.

blkaplan
Yeah if I were to get a sub it would be a 10" or a Bass Tube, I'm not a fan of the block shakers.A custom enclosure single 10 or 12 would probably be nice and well rounded, if you had it grafted into passenger side compartment it could be fairly versatile too. b3atboxjr
bass tubes are no good. get a nice 10." it wont take up too much room and it'll sound great! and won't be crazy loud either.
