Guided Tour Of Paris

There is a story behind it. A filmmaker wanted to get permission to do it legally, but the city denied him, so they did it anyway. I believe he got busted for it because they knew who wanted to do it in the first place. I forget who was driving the car.

Some things are just worth reposting every once in a while.

Can I get a translation of the last line of text just before credits?

It says "The film you are about to see was created without cutting or speeding up"

on that note, I can't tell if it's real or not/

What about the audio? Listen to the engine sound then compare that to the speed of the car. It isn't the same. From the sound, there are sections that the car, if it is really a Ferrari, should be going much faster than it actually is. it looks fast because the camera is so close to the ground, but look at the speed he is passing cars; it just isn't fast enough.

1980s Ferraris were not that quick. Not that it matters. It was a Benz not a Ferrari.

If you listen to the audio you can tell its a Prix car. You can argue that but how many cars were 5 speeds able to rev to 9k+ back then ;)

This is the film Rendezvous.

It was done in 1976 by French director Claude Lelouch, shot from a Ferrari 275 GTB. Even though it looks fast, they never got the car over 60mph. But the fact that it was done on bias ply tires, with no special effects (just a camera mounted to the front of the car), is pretty damn amazing.

This 9 minute movie is touted as the predecessor to all the Getaway in Stockholm videos, and more importantly the inspiration behind the short film, "The Run", which was used to promote the the Nissan 350Z, shot on location in Prague. Though in The Run, they did shut down the streets, and hired a full production film crew, so there really is no comparison here.

If you want to see it, go to: http://paultan.org/archives/2006/05/26/nis...-the-run-video/

On a side note, I don't think my 18" Pegs would ever survive the streets of Prague.

Also, if any of you have ever been to Cameron's post-IPD Garage Sale parties, you'd know that watching Rendezvous is an annual tradition. Next year, I plan on bringing Getaway in Stockholm I and II...
