NChoy
You know, it takes a real man to admit he was wrong. And the time has come for me to do just that. After further exhaustive research, this is what I have found:http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...6lr%3D%26sa%3DNLong URL huh?I think everyone assumes it was a 275GTB because that's what's on the cover. Look at it this way: Can you imagine a French director admitting he shot a really cool movie using a German car?God I hate it when I have nothing to do... ACBarnett
450 Benza 450SEL 6.9 to be exact, the dry-sump monster that was the spiritual predecessor of the AMG cars we have today. It had a ride-ajustable hydraulic suspension system that gave it handling most 70's sportscars would be proud of, and it made nearly 300 horsepower in a time when emissions was choking big blocks down to 120. The car also featured heavily in ronin, it's definately an equal of the ferrari onthe awesomeness scale.
donstruke
Here's a really excellent source on the 6.9. Make sure to read the Brock Yates section.http://www.answers.com/topic/mercedes-benz-450sel-6-
prasamin
whatever the car was, it wasn't going as fast as the engine sounds made it appear. you can tell by the the lane markers and overall speeds of the other cars that the driver was actually driving at VERY safe speed, although he ran through every red light there was.also, if you've ever been to Paris, then you know that there is traffic during 100% of daylight, which most of this video was filmed in. Now, I don't know about how traffic was in 1976, but I think it's safe to say that it was never that clear. The video was obviously staged, the driver probably wasn't going any faster than 35mph on the smaller roads, and 50mph or even slower on the straightaways. the video was then sped up and dubbed over.either way, it was well done.
