USMC850T
Ok so i installed a new sillicon TB hose and my idle has dropped. It's fine when the car is warm, but it's too low for it to idle cold, it studders and quits. How do I dial it back up to say 800 rpm or so? TM850R
Does your car boost properly? I just had this problem and it turned out one of the hoses was not seated correctly.Someone may have a better solution but I would tighten your throttle cable a very small amount. Also make sure the little arm going from the (this is where I wish I knew what some of the things were called under the hood) throttle body spring to the throttle cable disc is the correct length (all of this is under the plastic throttle body cover). I believe the Haynes manual has the all the measurements you should need for that arm.You could also clean out your IAC with some carb cleaner if you havent done that already. I did that and it helped some with idle.
RussB
There's a good chance you busted the to IAC motor hose, or the plastic vacuum treeAlso, the TB hose may not be properly installedThere is no idle adjustment
USMC850T
Boosts fine up to 18, also getting good vacum, just a little low in rpms at idle. I could probably tighten the cable, that wouldn't hurt anything.what is the IAC, where is it, and how may i have busted it?
RussB
what is the IAC, where is it, and how may i have busted it?it's where the small appendage of the TB hose connects to, with the black hose that attaches to the plastic vacuum tree.Once again, there is no idle adjustment, its controlled by the ECU
TM850R
IAC is Idle Air Control, its the aluminum cylinder thats attached by a hose to your vac tree. Its in the front of the motor so its very easy to get at. Make sure the clamps going to and from that are nice and tight. That may be your problem there.Dont tighten the throttle cable too much. Just enough so that the throttle arm will move with the slightest input from the wire. Russ is correct about the idle being controlled by the ecu. This is just to get rid of any slack in the throttle wire. I noticed mine had some slack after its years of use and I like my gas pedal to be responsive to every small input. USMC850T
well yes it was the IAC. The real problem is that im an idiot. When i disconnected it the other day to get the wire out of my way while installing the TB hose, i never hooked it back up. Please delete this thread.
