Denovae
Did anyone else take a look at the bung for the first O2 sensor and scream? So close to the turbo with both flows from Wastegate and Turbine side heading straight for it... I see the owner of this downpipe frying their sensor there quite frequently especially if it's wideband sensor for an AFR monitoring system. WB02s generally say to go ~18" from the turbo's outlet.

Texas850Turbo
Well if the wastegate is set to dump to atmosphere, the only time it'll open is when you're under heavy boost(unless your EBC is set to 20% gain or something) so you wouldn't scare the neighbors TOO much if the rest of your exhaust is properly muffled..and just stay light on the throttle when the cops are around. I could see myself running an atmospheric dump wastegate one day.... :D

I could see myself running an atmospheric dump wastegate one day.... I'm not saying they are all bad - they are actually awesome from a perfomance standpoint. But the novelty wears off quickly on a daily driver. I don't know how much entertaining you do with the ladies, but they will not want to ride in your car between the car sounding like you have a hole in your muffler and the stink of exhaust fumes inside the car.Face it, with type of turbo upgrades and boost levels that most Volvo guys do, and the fact that a 3" downpipe and 2.5"-3" exhaust will flow way more HP than most of us make, the average setup won't realize much gains from an open vs closed dump tube. Zulu
Dump tube FTW. Along with PINTO PAUL, YAH MON.But cool, I was expecting more "nice down pipe" responses...glad a lot of people realized what was wrong with the wastegate going back into exhaust. Supposed to be like 18'' (or 38'' ? braindead right now can't recall) down the exhaust and at what, around a 45 degree angle with flow, not against. :(
Denovae
for your dump, is there room for the possibility of a McCord PowerPlate with adaptor? Electric Switch mounted where you want it, open the powerplate for some more horsepower and the smell of exhaust, close it for the ladies and police. You could probably just have an exhaust shop weld in a cut piece of 3" tube and the proper 3 bolt flange then bolt up the power plate.
Texas850Turbo
Yes and Arob could see himself with a license. Please no comparisons between me and arob.....I know I'm only older than him by a few months but seriously..... I guess him having a liscense and me having an open dump is about equally far away though!!
Zappo
Kind of like this (excuse the world's worst Photoshop):This won't work. You have the wastegate dump crossing in front of the pressure output of the turbo.

Che'_Moderator
I have seen a lot worse designs. If I had a VR6 for 300 bones I would buy one.
