'02 S60 Awd Auto Trans Shift = Rpm Spike!

hey all,

My 2002 S60 has 30,000 mi on it, I just bought it in Aug and am the third owner. I have an extended warranty for this car so I want to fix this probelm.

I noticed that at even moderate accelleration the tranny hesitates to shift or slips or something when it should shift,

the car drives fine at cruising speed, but if you get on it to pull out onto highway or to pass it will flare up and the rpms spike before it shifts into next gear. This doesn't seem to happen all the time, the trans makes no funny noises or has any other problems, just rpm spikes sometimes when it goes to shift under accelleration.

What is the problem with my car?

What parts do i need to replace or how do i fix this?

Thanks so much, this is my first volvo and I want to take good care of her. Have a good holiday. :huh: :huh:

could be nothing but does your car slow down at all or bog out when you punch it or does it actually speed up then shift? if so I would say nothing because mine does that if I punch it the rpm's will go up high car is accelarting then it will shift.

There is a new TCM SW out for the AW55 transmission. Hook your S60 up to VIDA at the dealer, and see if you have the latest SW update.

Good Luck.

TCM =Transmission Control Module

SW = Soft ware

VIDA = Vehicle Identification & Diagnostic for Aftersale (previously VADIS)
