hafilax
Hi, I read on different posts about an adapter being needed to connect an Alpine CD changer to a 1996+ OEM HU, but nothing saying if the adapter is needed for pre '96. I thought I read somewhere that the '96 encorporated a new type of software that encouraged buying the Volvo branded changers instead of Alpines. True?Any help is appreciated. potroast
I have an Alpine changer on my 1994 855 (SC-810) and it does in-fact need an adaptor.

potroast
The adaptor is made by "Perhipial Electronics". I got it at Circuit City for $10 back between 96-98 (don't remember exact year, lol). But yeah, works great.
drlava
The sc-810 and 811 HUs need the VOLALP adapter. Its nothing but a plug-style changer, and adds a 12V battery feed.
maiku
unless you have the 96+ radio models, a simple cable adapter is all you needthe 96+ require a special "code decipher" addition or something like thati learned that the hard way...
