dan777
I just bought a 2000 V70R (Canada) with 138,000km (86,000mi), my first Volvo... After I drove it for a few days I noticed the following: 1.When accelerating (without having the turbo kicked in) there is a muffled low frequency type of noise coming apparently from the driver side of the engine and the engine seems to be a little bit rough in my opinion. 2.There is a slight vibration above 50mi/h that can be felt in the accel. pedal and steering wheel. (it might need tire balancing?) 3.There is a high frequency noise (like a metallic whistle) coming from the pass. side of the engine when idling, is louder around 2000 rpm. There is no fault code and obviously the dealer said there is nothing wrong with the car, maybe I am too picky? Another observation: This car has 2 mufflers and I thought the exhaust flow will be evenly distributed between the two, but the one from the driver side has less flow and it feels like cold air and the other one has more flow and feels like hot air. Is this normal? Any help appreciated, thanks.
leurven
Sounds like you need to check your driveshaft that it isn't in need of the fix volvo issued that caused it to move around a lot, also check for bent rims and balancing, not sure about other noise from pass side. PyROTech
bearing prob for some of the stuff listed or balance. For the whine type noise check to see there is no slip on the belt during low rpms or idle.
