V40 Turbo's

Ok guys I have a 2000 V40 that had a B4204 T2 that went bad, i aquired a B4204 T4 before I realized it was a T4 with 50k miles on it for about 750 bucks. Since it did not come with the turbo I was wondering if there was a size difference between the two motors, I am already aware I'll need to get the ECU remapped. Can anyone answer this question as I am trying to see what else is needed to complete this project.

B4204T4 is not T4 engine. I have that in my car and it's 2.0L engine with 12T turbo. You are right about ecu remap....You also might need to get the newer MAF as the older S40 have different MAF that would not work with the newer engine >01.

If I were you, get a 14T from Ebay and put it in there while you swapping the engine or just put the compressor side of 14T with the 12T turbine for a hybrid.

B4204T4 have 170hp vs B4204T2 160hp factory spec. I believe it use different engine mounts also.

No the engine mounts are exactly the same, the major difference was that the line-up pin for the harmonic balancer is in a different location. The engine in installed and running but at a lower idle rpm then i'm used to, so i am again assuming that this is the ECU/ MAF problem. However, my other problem is that there is no reference for the 170hp motor anywhere that I can find, all reference material that I have come across says this motor with the tag number B4204T4 is 200HP. This is not me doubting you I just would like some more info on this motor, or a place where I could reference the right information. I'm a Noob go easy on me :(

Engine codes listed for both European and N.A market.

phase1 1998-1999:

2.0T (12T) = B4204T (160hp)

T4 (14T) = B4194T (200hp)

phase1,5 2000:

2.0T (12T) = B4204T2 (160-163hp)

T4 (14T) = B4194T2 (200hp)

phase2 2001-2004:

2.0T (12T) = B4204T3 (160 to 170hp depending on year and market MY01-03)

2.0T (12T)= B4204T4 (170hp) (MY04)

T4 (14T) = B4204T5 (200hp)
