780 Bertone

The B230FT (turbo-4) version of the 780 is a sweet ride. The 6-cyl version is slow and not recommended unless you're a serious masochist.

Be aware that every body panel, lens, window, etc, is going to be very hard to find and will probably require special orders unless you have a parts car.

Pros:

Limited run

Cool design, only 700/900 series coupe, player appeal, leather and wood

RWD = fun

B230FT = strong, proven, reliable motor with lots of room for easy power gains

Cons:

Limited run

Very limited parts availability aside from engine stuff

IRS (nivomats) can be annoying to work on

V-6 engine is anemic and almost universally despised by shadetree mechanics

im looking at a 98 780 bertone turbo .... i just wanna make sure its not a piece of junk but worried about parts and such..

can that engine be modded like the 850's can and is the tranny and eng. parts still avail ? does anyone know what to look for or common problems ?

very little right now.. it has 120k on speedo.. by pics i can tell it in pretty good shape inside and out. gonna do some more checking on it tomorrow. I just dont wanna buy something i cant fix up or get parts for, u know what i mean ??

Modded you ask? :rolleyes: well this one is my friends, it pushed 24 psi until a bad ECU made go KABOOM, he was pushing 18 psi on a T3/Super60 trim, bigger injectors, exhaust and a couple other things.. lemme tell you it was fun, he'd hit boost and go sideways :P but it just got a 92 spec engine and built with Rods, pistons, Head work, block was bored idk how much, bigger turbo and many other parts... I'm dying for him to sell it over to me <_< but he wont.

Imma go to the shop this week to see how is going, 4cyl turbo are the best thing from Volvo
