echristodo
So I have those 18" pegs on my car with the stock Pirelli tires and I am worried that I am gonna get torched driving up the mountain to whistler tomorrow. You guys think they will be able to handle any amount of snow? There is a set of studless blizzak snow tires on steelies for $100 a few blocks from my house, should I grab them or am I going to be fine?-snowbunny

Che'_Moderator
Depends how much snow and how well you drive. I'd do it but thats me. No matter what you do make sure you pack cold weather gear in the car along with some water. Leave it there until winter is over.
whitev70r
Yah, it really depends on the road conditions, if there is any snow or ice. There has been times when I drove up in the winter and the hwy is absolutely clean till you get to the village almost. Anyway you can check the conditions cuz I know after this trip, you're not going to need them, not in Seattle.

They plow that shit all day and sand it though...http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighwaycam/index.aspx?cam=4better get the blizzaks for peace of mind huh? speedn_j
you will get stuck in 1/4" of snow with the 18"s and pirrellis. i'd just grab the steelies, you can always resell them for the same price

speedn_j
those will bolt up but i'm not sure if they'll clear your rotors...some s70's have larger rotors than 850's. ....just bolt one up and see how it goes...

Since his is a 98 (providing he doesn't have a modified brake kit) he SHOULD be OK with the 280mm rotors (same as 850 they were on)...
maiku
since we don't get too much snow (especially right now) probably a pair of tires up front would be enough
