Pics Of The Limo I Just Got Done With

well, this is rather an usual install for me. I was approached by a financial company to redo the entertainment center of their fleet limo. Since they get a lot of clients from the far east, a karaoke machine was used as the center piece of the install. Of course, there was other stuff to go into it as well. WHen I first got the limo, all it had was a really old sony cd player running four speakres. As you can see in these pics, there are quite a bit more in there :)

installing in a limo is a MAJOR PAIN in the ARSE! :) if you ever get into the buisness, try to avoid these kind of installs hehe, taking apart of the interior, obviously, goes well beyond simply removing door sills and door panels, and with all the components that went into the car, about 5 miles of wiring had to be somehow run through the car...anyway, took about two and a half weeks, the results are pretty good, he was acutally very impressed, saying it sounds better than his home theatre and karaoke system :)

here is what was installed:

cd/mp3/dvd player installed in the stock location over head near the rear seats

8 new speakers (four replacing the stock ones, and four more along the main shelving unit)

800 watt 5 channel amplifier in the trunk

12" image dynamics subwoofer in the trunk

10.4" flip down TV wtih wireless headphone broadcasting capabiltiy for front facing passengers

13.3" flat panel tv built into the side shelving unit for side facing passengers

7" wide screen tv built into the front pillar for rear ward facing passengers

professional karaoke machine hidden in the trunk wtih disc tray coming out between a trim panel in the rear seat pass through

4 channel A/V switcher

three video amplifiers

special trim pieces hidden in waht was the rear garbage disposal bin which hides four microphone plugs and the master volume control for the karaoke machine (see pics)

Mobile VCR with TV tuner

700 watt ac dc inverter

and miles and miles of wiring...i think that about covers it lol...maybe i forogt some more...all the screens are independently switchable to diffferent sources, meaning you can sing karaoke on the main 13" tv and listening via the main cabin speakres, while someone else watch the dvd on the flip down monitor and listening via ear phones while a third group of people can watch the vcr or TV tuner on the small 7" screen and listening with their own ear phones, any of these combinations is possible :)

but anyway, here are the pics :)

these two last pics show where i hid the master volume control for the karaoke unit and the four microphone jacks, so the customer doesnt have to reach behind the seat to figure out how to plug the mic in or to adjust the volume...

i dont want to drive that thing in a million years ahhaha :) its like three times as long as my car :)

ithink it acuatlly sounded quite good ,differnet than a car of course becuase of hte seating orientation, but if you think about it, thats 8 speakres and a sub in a rather small space :)

watching The Corrupter, during a gun fight, each shot really hammers you :)
