Evil E
Cheap Soviet weapon. You can pick em' up all day long for less than $200. Even in Ca. Cool thing about those guns are the ammo is cheap. I have about 8000 rounds of it hidden out somewhere.

As a blinker their great. If you want some for all around I would get a type 3 Kalashnikov, or if your going 600m plus get a M14 or M1A. M14 was a common dill weapon so they are pretty cheap. As to .308/7.62 ammo I must be shopping at the wrong places.

As for getting 7.62 (Soviet, not NATO) ammo, if you mail order it in bulk, it is dirt cheap.
USMC850T
Ok just clarify I have yet to purchase it. There are 3 of us buying them, and if we can get 2 more the price will be 100 bucks a piece. It would be mostly a plinking gun until someone breaks into my appartment, at which point it becomes a killing gun. 7.62 ain't too pricey, my buddies dad can reload. Does anyone have any experience with any of the licensed soviet weapons?

Does anyone have any experience with any of the licensed soviet weapons?i have a chinese sks. it's a decent plinker. i broke the recoil spring though, and i found that finding specific replacement parts is kinda hard. 7.62 x 39 is stuff ammo unless you custome load. wolf ammo SUCKS, it pokes everything up.be sure to take out the factory mag well and use conversion mags (no more stripper clips, just 30rd mags). Evil E
I don't think you can reload Soviet ammo. They use 1 time use steel cases.

They use 1 time use steel cases.you can find brass cases for 76.2x39, and that's the only way to get good ammo. surplus and wolf ammo misfires as much as my 240. Che'_Moderator
All the SKS are ok for what they are. From my experience they are usually one of two things. Very loose and reliable but only group like 6" at 200m which blows, or are custom built up and will shoot 2" at 200. 2" at 200 is still not that good but it way way better than the low end ones. Their all gonna break parts though. Thats just what they do. Figure out your intended range. 100m and under this is fine. 200m-300m you pushing it. 400m forget it. Now Joe. Were do I get the 3" rifle? ;)
