My Car Is Monster Trucking Its-self

Ok so last week i mentioned in a post in the performance section how one side of my car is sitting higher than the other after replaceing a blown front shock, and i was told to just give it some time, and hope that it settles. Well its been a week now and theres no change and now its really starting to piss me off cause my once lowered front end is wayyyyyyyyyy up in the air. Heres some pictures to give you an idea:

This was 2 years ago - but technically this is how it was sitting before i got the work done:

Heres a view of what it looks like in the summer w/rims:

And now heres what the stupid front end looks like:

As for lowering its only got IPD lowering springs which have been in for almost 3 years now, and i've never had a problem with them. I talked to the guy who did the work on the car and hes got no explanation for why it should be any higher/lower than it was before. So basically i'm stumped and really pissed off cause my car has a huge amount of rake that was never there up until a week ago. Anyone have any ideas on why god is letting this happen to me?

K actually just looking at those pictures i just put up made me notice something that i hadent noticed before. I went out and checked and it looks like the bottom spring seat on the passenger side is higher than the seat on the drivers side. Does anyone have any measurements on how far up the shock the spring seat is located on a stock 98 XC70 shock vs. a 98 V70 shock - cause if there is a difference than i think the problem might be solved.

Adam:

Check with Greg or Rod. I want to say that when they put Greg's stock R suspension on Rod's XC they found that the XC lower spring seats where indeed about 1 inch higher than the R. Your stock suspension should have been the same as Greg's from his R.

Adam

what dampners (shocks/struts)???

you will allways find cars with shot suspensions like in the first shot sit lower just because of the wear over time

EDIT: another thing, take a pic of the strut mount nut in the engine bay...interested to see how many threads are sticking out

The thing is tho, that first picture is from January 2005 - all the suspension components were fine back then - it wasent until about a month ago that i blew the passenger front shock. As for what kind of shocks, they are all factory stock front and back - the back being the self-leveling nivomats. The only difference now being that there is a stock XC front passenger shock in place of the old blown one. I'll take a pic of the strut mount tomorrow, i'm just too tired to go out and do that right now.

I think that's your issue.

Unfortunately I deleted the pictures of the front assemblies from when I went down to Greg K's to have the suspension swapped, but there was a difference. The front suspension also took the biggest drop...maybe almost 2" (?), and the rear probably went down about 1". The XC suspension in comparisson to the R suspension was very obvious...longer shocks, longer springs, ang different top strut bearings up front.

Greg...am I remembering it right?

Before drop:

after drop:

rear coils:

front coils, and the shock was physically shorter for the R:

I bought 2 new front shocks so hopefully once i get them installed that'll be the end of this dumb problem. If this dosent fix it, then i just might go crazy. Also right now i guess you could say the back of my car is squatting because the front is so high, but normally it dosent.

ahh that reminds me i once worked on a 01xc that was in an accident and someone replaced the one strut with a regular v70 one. so instead of being lifted it was squatting in the front corner. same thing sounds like though should take care of it when u chang the struts out.
