I ran a similar one where I live, and I put it on him pretty bad...from 25-110 I had him by about 5 lengths.reply............Are you kidding me ? Say hello to MOSES my e55. I'll run your sled going backwards and still beat your R silly ...which is not even modded as much as my R thats in the background ( based on your listed mods). Volvo's are great safe cars with some semblance of performance....but PLEASE don't compare it to an AMG Benz ( I've run mid 12's with the AC on ! ) .... its just plain embarassing. I would NEVER have wasted my gas if you had revved on me.I'm as much a Volvo fan as you as its my daily driver,but reading this thread has prompted me to reply. You might have raced a regular Benz with fake badges or something. When Volvo musters up enough technology to enter and win in Formula 1 then maybe the rest of the world will consider Vovlo's contenders....until then its still a 9 %'s car. Boosted5cyl Posted January 3, 2007 Report Share Posted January 3, 2007 yeah C32's and 43s are nasty, SC'd V8 and an NA V8 IIRC, got destroyed by a C32 once, backed off at 115 and they were pulling on me like I was parked dude, now C230's are only like 198hp or something but still my wagon's prolly got what, 4-500lb on him or so, maybe less ? still I'm about stock besides intake but still, I'm stock ! I'm not sure about the exact model....but some research says that the hp is around 300. It really didn't look that fast to me, unless he wasn't in it all the way...but it sure looked like he was by the way he took off. I have nothing against AMG's...my friend has one and I know that thing is nasty, but the one I ran wasn't that impressive based on the AMG reputation. I thought I was going to get smoked. I don't know a whole lot about Mercedes, but it had an AMG badge, and wheels...the license plate read AQUICK1. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Back in '00 a Jaguar XJR would bitchslap any AMG (so my mom picked one up). Now it is a completely different story, a E55 will stomp on a XJR. Relatively speaking, an XJR or the same year (say '99-'02) will do a decent job keeping up with the E55 until about 80, but after that, the Jag is the only thing being "bitchslapped." Not to magazine race, but Car and Driver did a comparison of the M5, E55, and XJR in March of 2000, and the E55 was almost 15 seconds quicker from 60-150. To put that into perspective, if the two were to run from a 60-roll, by the time the XJR hit 150, the E55 would be well over a 1/4-mile ahead. Ouch. With that said, I've always been a fan of Jag's R line. Nice cars. There is a local guy around here with a late-model XJR with an intake, cat-back, pulley, and most likely a tuned ECU. On drag-radials I've seen it run 12.60-12.70s @ 111-112 MPH. Not too shabby for a boat...but still not as quick as his wife's stock W211 E55 Wagon. :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
