12 Volt Power Supply

I am in the process of installing an Alpine cd changer (#CHM-S620) to a factory audio unit (SC811) in our 1994 850 Turbo. I have purchased the adapter/interface (#ALVOL1 Soundgate) required to connect these devices together. My question is where is the best/safest location to gain (+12 volt battery source) for the yellow wire of the ALVOL1 interface?

safest bet is always a direct link to the battery with a small fuse on it, but i would say a constant "hot" wire somewhere behind the radio (used to keep the clocks and settings etc), would work fine..., but you would probabl yhave to extend it back to the cd changer :)

Sorry Guys, I might not have been as clear as I should have been reguarding the 12 volt power supply I am looking for our cd player. The adapter we purchased fits to the back of the radio, and a small 7 inche yellow wire comes off the adapter. I don't really want to run a wire from the cabin to the battery. Is there not a junction or fuse box I can tie into. The car is equiped with a hard wired cell phone. Where did they get the power? Can I tap into that power supply? Hoping to get this thing wired today.

that's the "remote" wire. I run mine off of the constant 12V supply in the radio harness... You could run it off the ACC supply in the harness, but then you won't be able to eject the cartridge when the car is off -- so the 12V is a better option.

well, one thing about hooking it up to a 12v constant power is that your cd player may have a idle current, meaning it sucks a little bit of powr when its on, whcih if you park your car a long time, it could drain the battery. personally, I would hook it to your ACC wire or your ignition...but both will work...:)

On second thought, having the cd player wired to the audio harness what kind of time frame are we talking about before it would drain the battery down. We are thinking about leaving the car at an airport for 2 weeks, should we expect battery issues when we return?
