Does anyone know which wire runs to the cigarette outlet on a 2001 s40? I was planning on hooking up another cigarette outlet to it in order to hook up my satellite radio. Or if anyone has Sirius or XM I’m open to any ideas for getting power.

can someone delete this since i figured out how to get to the back of the outlet. Thanks

why not buy one of these. i use it for my sirius radio and gps.

OR!!! just get to the back of the cig lighter, and hardwire your XM to the power of the cig lighter....it's an ACC power source in your car, i believe, so your radio would only get power with the key in posII or on, and not get any power with the key out or in posI

dont forget to wire in a fuse to the power line of that wire, and ground the other. I did it on my company car a while back, let me see if I can find a pic.

bad pic, but you can see the power line from the cig adapter minus the cig lighter end. Put a mini-fuse holder in line with a 2amp fuse I think from radioshack. Then stuck the power line in the accesory fuse so the sirius would turn on and off with the radio. Other wire from the cig adapter is black with a round terminal grounded to a handy screw.

yea i finally figured out how to take out the center consule inorder to hook another cig outlet. finally got everything thing hooked up and sounded good except having to use a cesstte adapter.

get an auxillary input adapter. like this one:

OR for a less slick install you can always use the sirius fm modulator that you plug inline with your radio antenna wire:
