Sorry, I wasn't compeltely clear on my post.

I meant "not TURBO" as in the trim. So Turbo = 222 HP, and T-5/R = 240 HP (Difference of a chip).

Yeah, as Alvin said, turbo is better than NA.

You have the 222 HP version of the turbo.

HUGE EDIT: So I was reading and there is a distinction between the T-5 and R.

From 94'-95' the "TURBO" is labeled the "base" model (Turbo badge on back) and this has 222 HP.

The 240HP version is called the T-5R.

In 96'-97', The "Turbo" aka "Base" became the T-5 (222HP).

The T-5R (240HP) just became the "R".

fixed it for ya

there is no turbo model in 93

My 96' Turbo says Turbo on the back instead of T-5

I believe if the vin has a "57" it is a "TURBO" model, and if it has "58" it is a "R" or "T-5" model. The difference between the two is low pressure and high pressure turbo respectively. (222hp vs 240hp)

The US spec 850 "Turbo/T5"(VIN=57) and "R"(VIN=58) have the same engine and turbo, the only difference is the tuning of the ECU. Only the '97 had a LPT and it had a different VIN designation.

Alvin, my '96 also says "Turbo" and not "T-5" it was manufactured in late '95 though.

Seems like lots of confusion is building here. Until 1997 models, there were no LPT turbos (at least in US). We got the NA or the HPT turbo, labeled as the 850 Turbo in '94 and '95, possibly also '96. The same engine was just re-labeled as the T-5 in '96-'97, no change at all, just the badge - still the 222w hp HPT turbo. In '95, we also got the limited production 850R (not labeled as a T-5R) with 240 hp. This was subsequently called the T-5R with no other change - I think for both '96 and '97. One of the easiest ways to differentiate the R is the interior - seats are a combination of leather and suede in R only (all 850 years), and these are not likely to be faked in a plain turbo. Fog lights were not standard on US 850 Turbo's, but were an option. Fogs were standard on R's, mounted in a unique spoiler that drops closer to the ground than the Turbo spoiler.
