Max Back Pressure!

Recommended Posts

Ben you have civinco dont you? You shouldn't need an EBC cant you control duty from civinco?

Also, bigger intake bigger TB (Ignore me hehe) along with what Joe said on more timing.

this may be the first time we have ever thought someone needed MORE backpressure. I bet the on lookers were thinking "typical Volvo" and when tthey saw you at half track they stuff their pants. You may just try installing another muffler where your magnaflow is now.

holy hell what is wrong with ya'll

you DO NOT NEED ANY MORE BACKPRESSURE remember this is a TURBO car youwant as little as f'in possible... run 3" open downpipe for best results

on top of that if it is not spooling @ the line def sounds like a trans and stall issue. otherwise it is something w/ the setup of the turbo. if from a dead stop or slow roll it gets into boost in first and 2nd gear and yet @ the track when you powerbrake it and launch and there is no boost till the 1/8 mile which is almost the end of 2nd gear then for SURE something is reallysetup wrong, be it a bad tune causing it to run rich or a f'd trans. does the car have a chip? or hve you setup a custom tune/map for it?

your exhaust is just fine, if anything remove everything after the 3" DP and leave it @ that ... otherwise more backpressure is about the most retarded thing i have heard on here. that 10cm2 housing is nothing ..... people have run 12cm2 housings on smaller engines w/ heads that flow less and made boost just fine

try this .. remove the vac signal line off the WG actuator .. load up the trans and see if you make boost

I don't think it would be a stall issue if he can do it other times, just not at the track. I mean he had to be doing powerbraking with the old turbo.

Mike he is running civinco

so he has a custom tune .. then something in his map is really f'd up if that is the case

either way one the trans should stall higher ... if not something is wrong, and two if the turbo is not making boost till almost 70mph which is prob around 10 seconds of moving forward w/o making boost it is something really bad on the tune be it timing or fuel or something w/ the WG that is not setup right

I have heard it is rather conservative tune wise. But that is just what I heard, so don't quote me. But yeah for what he is running (specially DP wise) he should be doing just fine. Maybe launch control in civinco?

Civinco doesn't have a launch control, it isn't a full standalone.

Yes, why are so many people saying more backpressure?? Turbo = flow as much as possible, the turbo itself is all the backpressure it needs!

Post your times Ben! Looks like the racing seats didn't help your times ;)

Hi

I was very unhappy with my low power performance when i switched from my 16T to the 19T setup. I think with your turbo it's even worster. For a manual i see no big problem but with the auto it sucks.

I corrected things with high boost a bit but it's still not like before.

what? how? what else did you change? was the 19t new? the 19t and 16t use the exhaust same a/r turbine housing, depending on year/model outlet might be diff along w/ factory opening size on thehousing might be diff but otherwise the 19t compressor allows the turbo to make a lot more boost down low than the other fwd turbos .... i've swaped a few cars from 15g's to 19t's and they all picked up really good low end power w/ the 19t, it spooled faster than the 15g, and i've done the 15g-16t swap and noticed zero to no gain so ...

Some people clearly have big issues with turbo lag, and what it really is heh.

:(

Someone said my 16t had turbo lag... I couldnt figure that shit out when it spooled 23psi all before 3k rpms. :(

I'm not sure about the backpressure. If you have an old MBC laying around put it in line to the wastegate actuator but set it for less than your maximum boost, say 10psi. That will keep the wastegate closed hard until the boost setting of the MBC is reached which will then pass control to the BCS or whatever else you are using.
