TorqueSteer
No its the stock hahn racecraft 8psi internal wastegate. You externally gated?
550
It really is too bad you don't have that BCS hooked up. I doubt it is the tranny... when was the last time you power braked (even with the old turbo)
TorqueSteer
Probly about a year ago, last time I was at the track.when was the last time you power braked (even with the old turbo)
550
Oh... hmm that long ago eh. Well that could put my theory to shambles. I still doubt it is your stall converter though. That is just me
TorqueSteer
Ya I really don't beat on the car as much as some of us on this board Oh... hmm that long ago eh. thelostartof
good chance it is not the trans ... it has to do w/ the tune or WG setup... i'd check the tune first .. figure out why you can not get over 1900 rpm while trying to stall .. or maybe goback to a factory map to see how it changes just that part of loading up the engine
towerymt
holy hell what is wrong with ya'lldamn, beat me to it. this thread is funny. For those of you who have tuned cars before, where is a safe rpm to begin advancing timing? 1000, 1500, 2000?What do the current maps look like? towerymt
go 3" dp to 2.5" cat to 2.25" muffler to 2" mid pipe to 1.75" tailpipe to 1.5" chrome tip. back pressure a'plenty!
Zulu
Backpressure lol. Mike pretty much took care of this thread..

EricF
Ben, I'd like to meet up with you before I head to Orlando Saturday afternoon if that's possible... Want to talk ignition timing a bit with ya and check out your current maps and hardware setup.Sounds like something isn't right. This thread is out of control. If I had more than a couple hours of potential sleep time left, I'd try to contribute something or try to clarify what others have said at least.Mike, one thing about the 19T though. I did see a small loss in spool time on my car, though one thing you don't seem to be taking into considerations in your theories is the inertia of the compressor wheel-- the 19T will have more mass and it will be further from the center of rotation... Many people don't even think of this when talking in terms of turbo spool time, but it does matter. It might not be as big of a factor as some of the other more commonly considered ones, but don't forget it!As far as Ben's setup, it should be performing decently. The only reason my big turbos have had spool problems are pre-turbo exhaust leaks and less than ideal wastegate setups, which both send everything out of whack. And apparently on my latest setup, I had multiple leaks in my intercooler (and my friend who'd borrowed my car while I was out of town bypassed it, forgot the wastegate line was disconnected-- which previously yielded about 14-15 psi-- and proceeded to blow the car up for me). But that's another sad story for another day, and probably why I'll be out of Volvos for quiiiiite some time now, if not indefinitely.Anyway, carry on. I'll try to make sense of this thread at a later date.
TorqueSteer
and my friend who'd borrowed my car while I was out of town bypassed it, forgot the wastegate line was disconnected-- which previously yielded about 14-15 psi-- and proceeded to blow the car up for me) WTF man when was this??, im so sorry to hear that.I noticed what you said about your exhaust leak problem, and It completely skipped my mind that I have a leak from my exhaust manifold somewhere, I get a strong sulphur smell most of the time when at WOT. It dosent make sense to me because I just replaced the gaskets on thanksgiving day. Perhaps the manifold was warped, or not tightnened down in the proper order. Its performing much more than decently, the car feels incredible to me, like I said I had no clue I was spooling this slow on the street, It was just the track that was disappointing, the thread title was "disappointed on the track" not "disappointed on the street." At only 15psi this turbo just pulls so hard and solid, like a jet its just incredible. As far as meeting up, I have no work or anything on Friday or Saturday so that would be awesome if you want to meet up somewhere and have a look see :)
TorqueSteer
The map should be factory at that level, I havent touched anything at that load level (1 bar) or rpm level (1500-2000). If I dont input anything, Civinco will just route through the stock ecu's timing and fuel maps.good chance it is not the trans ... it has to do w/ the tune or WG setup... i'd check the tune first .. figure out why you can not get over 1900 rpm while trying to stall .. or maybe goback to a factory map to see how it changes just that part of loading up the engine
550
So I guess some of my ideas about the trans not being the issue aren't that retarded. Well hopefully eric can help you out some on the tuning. BTW how much timing are you running? (do you know)
