Removal Of Center Console

why not have fixed windows made from lexan or some kind of plastic?  that way you don't need window switches.  also, you could take out the door lock motors and just use your locks as manual locks while you are at it.  you don't have seat heaters anymore, so you don't need those switches.  as far as the obdII, i think your idea is good of either mounting it on a plate under the dash, or you could conceal it a bit by mounting it facing the floor under the dash.

as far as weight reduction, why not get a new steering wheel?  that stock one is pretty heavy.

i actually want to keep my car road legal. (perhaps buy an 850 t5 sedan next year together with a friend for racing exclusively)

so all the good ideas have one enemy, the TÜV. if u apply or remove anything technical relevant u lose the coverage of ur insurance. so its simply strongly forbidden.

lexan windows n public traffic ? not to think of...

the seat heating switches control the fixing of the belts by the way.

i think to put the obdII somwhere under m my new console is a very good idea. this way it wont be damaged or so as well.

its not allowed to remove the airbag on the drivers side. So i have to look for an airbag steering but it has to be certified and then i have to go th eTÜV to get it through all the acceptance procedure. But i headr there is oem sports steering with airbag for the 850? that would be good cos i could perhaps save all the acceptance sh...

and how much would it be?

volflo, your car has obd? thats wierd, all the cars that I import I have to install an obd2 system

until end of 95 all 850 in germany came with onboard diagn under the hood. the 96 models (dont know if really ALL of them) have obd on the center colsole. in 12/96 850 officially ended in germany. and since all 850R are 96 they all have it on the console.

what about getting rid of those door pannels...and cut a CF sheet to match, i'm sure those things aren't exactally light...do you still use your climate controlls? If not why not just get rid of anything related to the climate system. Do you have a CF hood?

cf hood is impossible. i would need at least 10 hoods and then make a data sheet on cracking, bending, crash tests, shivering adn all that. and then i would perhaps have chance to get the 11th or so registered at my best friend. (guess who it is?)

(erebuni is fordbidden because of the same reason. and there is nobody who wants to import who thinks it worth the whole procedure. as simple as that.)

of course with the hood its the same.

Good point! - And this car is driven primarily at the track, so handling is extremely important.

not to forget how dramitically braking has improved since then. with the rights pads it feels like u throw an anchor around a telephone pole. Really, i always have the feeling of control arms meeting my feet... ;)

handling has improved very much also. or havent u seen that short vid sequence with me going between an opel speedster (basically identical to lotus elise) and a 996 911 turbo?

In a Volvo station Wagon. thats the point of doing it.

after each round on the track tons of people stand around MY car, cos they have never seen a car like that performing so well.... i parked next to a brand new gallardo once, that guy was so pissed nobody was interested in his car... :D
