Anyone Use A Scanguage? Where Are My Codes?

I'm just shooting in the dark now. I finished my PCV replacement, went for a drive and as soon as the trans shifted out of first, the car bogged and spat and ran like crap. So I gimped home and let it run a while in the garage. Twisting the throttle linkage manually, the engine would start to die, then teh injectors made an awful whistle and the motor would then rev. Did this consistently until I turned the car off.

Then I got the PNP symptoms described in Bay 13. So I got a ScanGuage today and after charging the Volvo (it was pretty dead, must be something else taking a constant low draw on the battery) I plugged the SG in and got as far as "1 stored code." But then where the code is supposed to be (and it works on my other car) the screen was just blank and I had the option to clear it, but couldn't see what the code was. Any idea why?

Also, now charged, the car only starts and then immediately dies. It'll start right back up again, only to immediately die. When it dies, all the dash lights are on, of course, along with the PNP symptomatic trans and mode light flashing. As well as some new ones: the AC & recirc lights flashed also.

This is getting weird, guys. Now I'm just looking for some direction on where to start. Any and all ideas are welcome!

Do you mean you worked on the flame trap at the bottom of your intake? If so did you move the fan assembly and the wiring to the fuel pump relay?

Sometimes when these corroded older wires are moved.. they break and cause issues.

This could be...I did remove the fan assembly. However, I went back out after the car had been on the charger a while longer, and the ScanGauge worked right that time. I got code P0123, searched the forum for it, and found several other people who had this same TPS code after doing the same work. I'll clean the connection good and see what happens, then replace if necessary. I have a feeling there's more than that, so we'll see what happens once I get past the TPS issue.

Sounds like I need to thoroughly go over the connections that I fiddled with doing the job, and go slower next time. Thanks for the input.

Oh yeah, and I can keep the car running if I mess with the throttle immediately after it starts and keep feeding it thereafter. But there's a miss in there somewhere. I have a tune up kit coming from FCP so then I'll know all the ignition parts are new.

trying to keep the car running that way reminds me that you should also look for vacuum leaks or hoses you didnt connect or the elbows broke.
