so im thinking of putting two 8" subs in the rear deck of the sedan instead of the factory 6x9s and then using a 6channel amp. doors will all be 5.25 components powered by front and rear chsannels, rear 8's will be powered by the two sub channels....im new to volvos but any thoughts? i searched but didnt find anything about this other than 5.25's fit in the doors pending which brand you go with....thanks in adavance, rick

8" subs will require some custom work to get them to fit. A little cutting and such should allow them to fit. Also from what Ive read, Volvo doesnt use a standard 6x9 in the rear, they use something just a bit smaller. I think someone wrote about this on the site somewhere, maybe its in the links on the homepage. If you arent afraid of cutting up the rear deck, I would say go for it. I think that two eights in the back would sound good.

this would be cool b/c u could mount the amp on the back of you rear seat which can be easily tweaked and whatnot (Is that even a word? Let me check the dictionary. No it's a not a word, I'm dumb!) via the trunk. some custom work can make this work. i think.

good luck if it works out do a write up and take lots of pics along the way.

Remove OEM speaks and grilles.

Make a decent sized baffle.

Open the stock holes as required, which you may or may not need to do given baffle height and basket width.

Lay a heavy amount of dampening on the hat shelf.

Drop the subs in and you're done a basic install.

It would be much better to make an enclosure by creating a five sided shape (don't use a cube) that fits under the subs. Secure it to the baffle on the other side of the hat shelf.

Don't put subs in the rear deck...if you do, say hello to rattle-ville. Bad idea.

this is all that im worried about....how do you know this will rattle so so much? its not like the stock speakers dont put out a bit of bass...i think if the speakers were mounted well it could be ok....

the other question would be is it better/easier with enough results just to put 6x9s in the stock spot and run them like woofers?

im trying to use my 6 channel amp here....

5.25 comp in the doors for front and rears and then it leaves the rear speakers for something, i dont want to use any of my trunk space is the key here....i mean none...the only space i might use the trunk for is a flase floor to mount the amp under and thats it... otherwise id just go put a 10 and be done.....

any more thoughts, looking for audio gurus here...rattling is a concern though....
