miklopolis
The rear deck speakers on my 94 850 sound like they are getting now power even when turned up. I can barely hear them. I recently removed the rear door speakers, could that have anything to do with it?

miklopolis
Well i checked the speakers on my lunch break and they seem to be fine. Checked the wiring and everything is attached. What the heck could be causing them to work but at such a low volume? Could pulling the rear door speakers have anything to do with it? Something wrong with the head unit? I believe the previous owner had some aftermarket stuff installed, maybe the orginal stuff wasnt reinstalled correctly?
Mr. Norm
Aren't the rear door and deck speakers wired together in series? If so, remove one speaker and you break the connection to the other. Put the speaker back in and see if the problem goes away.

Mr. Norm
Is there another way I can create the series without putting the door speakers back in?In theory and untested, you ought to be able to just short the leads together.BUT: If this works (you are going to test my theory with your gear) the impedance that your head unit or amp sees is going to change, which may affect the output. If it duzn't work, your amp may be trashed.Every DIYer, whether car audio, home repair or rocket science, needs to know their limits; else they get into a lot of trouble. Your questions suggest that you have exceeded your limits. Mebbe it is time to get some professionals involved before you break sumthin? Ya know? <_<
Guest Guest
hey i have exactly the same problem with my 94 850. my passenger side fron door speaker is shot too i think. both of my rear door speakers are in so obviously thats not the problem in my case. i think i might just replace all of the speakers anyways tho. Cal3thousand
I had the same problems.Magnets fell out and other speakers were torn. The cheap paper cones sound like stuff anyway. Get some new speakers and have fun fitting them!
Ivanfbi
The rear speakers are wired individually, so if you remove the door speakers, the deck speakers will work but at different load. Each rear speaker is 8 ohm, so when they are wired in series, they produce 4 ohm load. I don't know what is the problem with your speakers, but just FYI

Guest Guest_Mike_*
Mine rear decks don't work at all while the rear doors work fine. I've tried looking for a bad connection but have had no luck. Does anyone know the wiring for the rear speakers - pictures and visuals would be great. Thanks. tp_taylor
The rear door and deck speakers appear to be wired parallel, not in series. That why volvo uses different ohms. I would look at the connectors in the doors possibly grounding out on the metal frame, but would not suggest tying them together to complete the circuit. The sure fire thing is to direct run two speaker leads to the rear deck.
wjhandy
Are the fronts wired the same way? I am aware of the problems with the dash speaker magnets falling out.
