Che'_Moderator
OK which begs the question why. I have never owned a MY96 only 95s and a 97. But I know one 95 was always off and same for the 97. I have no clue on the other 850. It may be something simple like o2 or EGR and be able to be switched off via the ECU. Ask John. I know he has a 850 .bin handy.

Thats typically one of those things thats always on unless you turn it off..

BlackBeast
Will have to find out if any UK 850s has the system disabled until you manually switch it on. It would cheaper for me if it was, but we shall see :)

ovlov780t
So does that mean that all pre '98 cars have their tracs off, until you manually switch it on with the dash button? In the dash, when the button is pressed, does it say 'TRACS ON'? Yes,I have a 95 850 turbo, and it is off by default. On c70, it is on by default. Wierd huh? USMC850T
mine definetly works, makes the car slow as shitMine doesen't work at all. When i start the car the TRACS OFF and ABS are on for like 2 seconds then they go off. My ABS still works too but whatev I really dont need traction control. Fudge_Brownie
Does turning the TRACS off really make a huge difference? Or is it all in the head? I know it is disabled after 25mph. It might explain why I couldn't(fixed my typo) do a burn out while holding the brake and gassing it till 3k and letting go and getting barely anything from the tires. My button seems to do nothing (no lights change on the dash) and I checked, the switch is plugged in.

550
From personal exp alone, I say tracs is useless. Common sense keeps you safer, along with threshold breaking. But even aside of that, I found that once tracs did kick in during a slide that it was maybe a bit more dangerous. Then again this is only my own opinion. Also I would doubt tracs is keeping you from doing a burnout, but for the sake of your tires... maybe you shouldn't Also IIRC all tracs does is apply the brakes. I think with ABS alone you are better off. :-\
