Anthrpicdecadnce
So my e-brakes been acing a little funny. I'd start the car and let the lever down like normal, and everything would be fine, but then after driving for about 20 ft or so, i'd hear a loud clunk, and the e-brake would engage.. with the lever down the whole time. this is annoying me, as the e-brake shoes are new, but this is causing accelerated wear and destroying my fuel economy. when the e-brake self-engages, the stopping power isnt as strong as it would be when i do it myself, but it still causes this disgusting sound. as well as a loud squal. also, due to the extra strain holding my rear wheels, shifting is not as smooth as it used to be. then, after some driving, the issue usually clears up, but then pulling up on the e-brake displays no resistance or a lot of resistance, or even a mix of the two. something is wrong, but i don't know what to do. it's also likw 9 degrees out, so working on the car is gonna suck.what is up????on a side note, i'm getting new rubber soon. what should i get? javadoc
Something tells me that you may have installed the e-brake shoes wrong, or have something backwards.
Ceenit
Something tells me that you may have installed the e-brake shoes wrong, or have something backwards.+1. Something is slipping out of it's proper position while your driving. No gremlins in there.

AlvinL
Broken or disconnected return spring inside the drum?
Zappo
Broken or disconnected return spring inside the drum?Yes, it is a broken spring. I have had this problem. It moves around until it jams in the adjustment gear. Pull the brake apart and remove that piece. I removed my whole parking brake assembly on the one side until I got a replacement spring. Without the spring, things are just too loose in there to leave.

T-5BattleWagon
I am running BFGoodrich Traction TA on mine, and I like them, good hold in turns, fair amount of sidewall stability, and they look pretty good. Totalled about $130 shipped mounted and balanced and installed, with front end alignment at town fair tire.
