Guest S60
Hello all,I would like to connect an aftermarket amplifier of Rockford Fosgate to my stock HU-603 Volvo radio (Volvo S60). According to my dealer this is not possible. Are there any possibilities to install an aftermarket amp to the stock connections for a Volvo amp or do I need an additional connector to connect it with the radio. I really would like to install the amplifier and I have been looking around on the internet but haven't found a decent answer to my question. I hope you can help me further!! Thank you by advance!! If possible you can mail me at: S60@car-tuning.beWith kind regards,Frank
TorqueSteer
I think i understand your question and think that you want to connect subwoofers to your system and not amplify your 3 way speakers. If so then you have 2 options, I am not familair with the s60 radio so bear with me, on my 850 stock radio, there are amp preouts, which is a 6 or 8 pin DIN connector, if your radio has this, you simply take some sewing pins (Yes I am on a budget, college is expensive) and stick them into the correct preout, on for rear left, on for rear right and one for ground, you then fabricate some rca connectors to go along with this (if you need more detail, just ask, i can do a write up.) The rca connectors then go into the amp, the result from this 10 dollar mechanism is AMAZING bass, its just a pain sometimes if something gets dislodged. Your second option is one that can be used on any car, you just use a line level converter to cut the rear right and rear left speakers and get RCA outputs, i have seen these at Wal Mart so you can get them pretty much anywhere. The result is okay, as i have seen in several newer cars where it is impossible to remove the head unit, if the amp is good thou, it can make up for the loss. The bass is not as clean but it works.
