Bass Project I Am Contemplating

As with everyone else I would like to produce more bass in my brick (95 T-5 Sedan) and have my own criteria of what I feel to be satisfactory.

First, I do not want to see the unit at all, and along with that loose no trunk space.

Second I do not need ground trembling bass, just good clean low's to fill out the music.

So here is my plan.

I would build a sealed box that would be fit in the spare wheel cavity (with wheel still in cavity) sitting on the spare. The base would be an octagone (trying to use the circular area to its fullest potential) and as the verticals wall raised they would also be angled outward to meet a larger octagone that would meet flush with the carpet cover. The shape would be similar to a cone with different diameters at the top and bottom.

This would allow for about 7" of space from the top of the box to the bottom. And would give around 0.4-0.6ft^3 of space in the box.

I would but a single 10" sub with a shallow depth in the box.

Now, I guess my question is if this would work. Would a single 10" sub produce enough bass? What is a good 10" sub? (I have been thinking of using an infinity kappa sub)

I understand the complexity of the box frabrication, but am competent enough in that department. Does the shape of the box have a large impact on the sound produced? Is 1/2" MDF ok to use, or should I use 3/4"?

Ok, so thats the plan.

Suggestions, comments? You there in the back....

Yes the shape of the box is everything!!! Differect boxes have an unbelievable effect.

I am not sure that you are going to get any much of a "hit" from the subwoofer if it is suffocated by the spare tire, and carpet over, not to mention the rear seat, make sure the pass thru is always open.
