Ams Srt-4

What do you guys think? I think he may have jumped the gun on the races, but he still pulled decently for being on pump gas where he's around 550whp+, race gas he's tuned to a little over 725whp (martin @ AMS never pushes the tuning too far - the 790whp run was made nearing the limits of the turbo). on the last run he destroys his input shaft, but still... that thing is f'n fast. i can't believe his stock transmission lasted that long.

I've seen a couple of examples with the right tuning the SRT4's can do 450 whp+ on a stock block on pump gas; yes it is still a Neon but the engine is pretty decent in my view B) Sick ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD car in the vid.

the highest stock block SRT-4 is over 550whp on race gas, chris's car has an AMS long block. AMS holds the highest hp rating for a street SRT-4 on their block while DCR has the highest overall. AMS has seen 790whp and expects the block to hold minimum 1000whp. DCR on the other hand their 2.4 has seen 1200whp and their 2.6 has seen over 1300whp. stroker FTW.

i wanna see him run the thing on high boost with race gas. beating one c6 z06 and a heavily modded c5 z06 is pretty darn hard. to imagine he's only invested less than 15k in the car.... 35k (new car price included 25-30k if bought used) for a 700+ whp car.... DAAAAAAAAMNNNNN. hmmmm.... DCR engine + GT40 AMS spec.

don't you wish AMS started tuning Volvos, GT3076/35/37R turbokits + built engines? it would be expensive but i bet some of the guys here would jump on it you'd be seeing similar #s... no need to swap in a SBC to get into the 11s.

edit - don't get all huge caps n bold letter newb style on me for posting a sweet off-topic video in off-topic.

AMS wouldn't touch a volvo, I can 100% gaurantee that. Back when my buddy had his subaru tuned by them, all they did was bitch. I know a guy over at AMS (fabricator) cool guy, good work. But they are not open to new ideas in anyway :-\

Do you really think it's because they are "not open to new ideas", or just simply don't want to waste time? Hmmm.

Fast SRT-4. Am I impressed? Not really.

Joe, considering STi's and WRX's aren't exactly any more waste a time than an EVO or SRT-4 I can't understand why they would have such an issue with the STi or WRX. Which leads to my conclusion that they are infact not open to new ideas.

You know some people over at AMS Joe?

How is a WRX, STi, or EVO a waste of time? I guess 600+awhp on stock engines is weak, countless rally wins (all levels), best awd systems in the world, extreemly safe (wrx/sti), and the ability to take out other companies sports and performance cars that cost more is a complete waste of time.

Nick

ps. I am not a fan of the SRT4's, but their engine's have proved themselfs as potential powerhouses.

Read a little more closely what I wrote.

Use previous posts to support what I said as well.

I never said either was a waste. I did however say that how is one more or less a waste than the other.
