Marzocchi
Hi,The turbocharger I am installing on my car has a separate turbine and wastegate outlet. I always loved the sound of wastegate dump but not a lot of people are running one here.Cops around here are very anal about loud exhaust. I will keep my 2.5" exhaust and add a resonator to keep cuise quiet but I would like an open dump to get that extra kick when the wastegate opens. Those who are dumping to atmosphere, are you getting pissed of it or it still sounds as good as the first day to your ears? For space at the turbo outlet, I was thinking of going 2.5" downpipe + external dump instead of 3", would it spool as fast? I have no cat and most dsmers with this turbo have a 2.5" housing and downpipe and are pushing more hp than what I plan. Thanks,Pierre

Che'_Moderator
How do you get a boost when it opens? If you do not plumb it back in pre mufflers atleast made a pipe for it and drop it out behind the doors.
Marzocchi
It's annoying as hell. What turbo? My 16G.How do you get a boost when it opens? If you do not plumb it back in pre mufflers atleast made a pipe for it and drop it out behind the doors.DSMers are reporting .5s faster in the quarter because of the dump. Not like a boost from nitrous I will buy 1.5" stainless piping and dump it under the car.
socal850tuner
Make sure have pipin to move the exhaust gasses from the wastegate out of the engine bay or else u will be running on exhaust fumes.
FIORE
Pierre, I get plenty of spool with my 2.5" DP. So I dont think you'll have a problem there. Thanks for the wastegate and exhaust housing I got them last week.

Marzocchi
you can go with a 2.5'' all the way back and still get good spool with that housing, anything done to the exhaust manifold ?I ported the exhaust manifold with a air grinder and carbine burrs. For now, only the outlet is ported and there is a little crack between 2 runners. Where it meets the head, how much material should I remove from each ports ? Just port match? NW T5R
I just ran across this setup online yesterday. They say that they have production delays and do not have a date of when they will be in stock. Retail for around $250 I believehttp://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/release091004.htmThe Virtual Exhaust System explained: The VES (Virtual Exhaust System) is designed for “real world” drivers who demand “race track” level power from their turbo car. Enter the VES (Virtual Exhaust System)…….A system that works “on demand” at the onset of boost on turbo and supercharged vehicles to free up all the backpressure (just as a large exhaust system would) in the exhaust stream so the engine can make maximum power. The VES system works as an active dump tube that completely bypasses the restrictive exhaust system when boost is present. As soon as the turbo spools, the valve begins to open. By the time the turbo makes full boost, the valve is fully open. Highlights of the way VES works:Completely quiet and stock-like sounding during startup, idle, and cruising. 0 delay in valve response to boost, yet very smooth transition into boost mode. Automatic open/close under boost using existing boost source on turbo engine and does not rely on wing nuts or electrical motors. Integrate a boost controller to control when the valve opens or completely turn it off. Addresses virtually all complaints associated with large 3” cat-back exhaust systems.Highlights of how our VES components are built:Solid billet steel construction holds up to high (turbo) temps and won’t fatigue and fail in continuous heat. Precision CNC machined to tighter tolerances for a gasket-less seal. Built using existing, reliable wastegating technology. Standard valve built to accept most common actuator bolt patterns for wide range of spring pressures. Universal and applications specific kits will be made available, but as usual, all components will be available “a-la-carte” for our DIY and fabricator customers. They released one of those last year? but it was on an on/off switch i think.
